this is indeed odd.

Five years ago or so I did a series of flashcards for kindergarten-age children learning to read. But the writers sometimes came up with very abstract words that didn't lend themselves well to the flashcard treatment, and I couldn't always talk them out of it, so I did what I could. So. How's this for odd?

They eventually pulled the card, but it remained a sentimental favorite.
