A WHILE AGO, back when I was still working in an office building full-time, a woman who worked in a different department asked me a simple question:
"What's your favorite thing to draw?"
which is actually a pretty good question to ask an artist, I think.
First of all, if you ask them this and they just turn their nose up at you, you know they aren't worth your time socially. But also intellectually! We all choose our focuses and based on what moves us we find areas to grow and I would bet any artist great or small would have an answer for you if they thought about it just a little.
So my favorite thing to draw is: emotional content.
It's that simple. And, really not. But it is fascinating all the same.
Whenever my job gives me the chance to nail down a particular reaction or dynamic, I am especially happy.
